Should the FCC make fox news and others show a disclaimer letting people know its not actually news?
TroubleMaker asked:
Seems only right that consumers be told by the government that Fox as well as other so called news outlets are simply an entertainment show fashioned in a news format .
While they do provide some news like when a police chase is on or they cover a fire or storm you are actually getting news . The rest of the time it is scripted entertainment .

So don’t watch it. Do you guys need a nanny to turn the channel too.

Yes because sadly most people think all the big news networks are news.

nah, I’d say the same ratio of news-to-entertainment happens on every outlet.
perhaps yahoo should make us sign a disclaimer letting people know whether we are actually asking a question or just throwing out opinions.

either that or they should endorse John Stewart as a real news show!
what a joke this whole mess is….

this is a good idea
then all of the “news shows” that feature ultra marxist individuals with agendas can be seen for what they truly are, pure fiction

Simply change the name to Fox Noise or Faux News, either will work.

I agree with your premise. But they should also put them on CNN and MSNBC for being faux leftist. They are all in corporate pockets.

Only if all of the other network outlets do it, too.

I think all media giants should have the same disclaimer. Just because Fox has the edge in the news/entertainment area, doesn’t mean the other networks are not guilty as well.
Our press, over the last few decades, have failed our people miserably. They have become a mouthpiece for corporate America and our governments bidding.
They have lost the courage to question our government incessantly. That is their job, as outlined in the constitution.
I know, I worked in the business of news for a decade. Went in with lofty dreams and left disillusioned that we have lost our way under the morass of corporate giants.

Are you kidding? Watching the “major” networks show the latest Hollywood gossip and “reporting” the latest Democratic spin is “real” news? Why is it that anyone or anything that disagrees with a liberal veiwpoint should be discredited or shut down?
May 28th, 2009 at 11:37 pm
YES!
And what is infuriating is that people on the right say that CNN, and C-Span should show a disclaimer just the same.
It is not the same. Fox news is not news! CNN is! It is that simple!
May 31st, 2009 at 6:02 am
Sure, as long as they include CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC,
LA TIMES & THE NY TIMES.
FOX NEWS IS SIMPLY AN ALTERNATIVE TO THE REST OF THE LIBERAL MEDIA

Yes, all corporate conglomerate owned propaganda stations that claim to be news should have that posted on the bottom of everything that appears to be news.
But then the fringes would lose their dreamworld belief that they are part of the majority.

YES
and they should stop acting as if they are credible newscaster and start acting more like South Park
