Why is yahoo allowing ads and news summary to obscure parts of email messages?

Patt H asked:

Lately a fashion ad is popping up on left side of email screen to obscure portions of email messages. Who is programing this? And I do not want the news summary on my email page. It appears before I can click on INBOX and usually freezes so that I have to Restart computer every time.

Those are rollover ads, activated when your mouse passes over them. If you look closely… there’s a “close” option… often hard to see, but it’s there. They “allow” it because advertising is what allows us to get many Yahoo services for free.
